Made in His image
God created human beings in His image to know Him, represent Him, and reflect His character within creation. We were made for relationship with God and for lives that show what He is like.

God does not remain distant.
The Bible begins not with an abstract definition, but with the living God acting: creating, speaking, pursuing, promising, dwelling, and saving. Before we examine more closely who God is, we begin with the story of how He has made Himself known by coming near.
We turned away, but God pursued
Sin broke our fellowship with God and brought shame, exile, and death. Yet the first movement toward restoration came from God. He called to Adam and Eve while they were hiding, covered their shame, and promised that evil would not have the final word.
;God makes and keeps His covenant
God bound Himself to His promises. Through Abraham, Israel, and David, He promised blessing, a people, a kingdom, and a coming King. His people were often unfaithful, but God remained faithful to His purpose and His word.
; ; ;The holy God chooses to dwell among His people
God is holy: completely pure, wholly good, and unlike anything He created. Sin cannot simply remain untouched in His presence. Think of the sun: its warmth gives life, but unprotected closeness would overwhelm us—not because the sun is angry, but because intense heat belongs to what it is. In a far greater and personal way, God’s holiness is the unchanging perfection of who He is. The comparison stops there: God is not an impersonal force, and holiness includes moral purity, goodness, and glory—not physical heat. Yet this holy God instructed Israel to build a sanctuary so He could dwell among them. His nearness is therefore an astonishing gift of grace.
; ;The Father sent His Son
At the right time, the Father sent the Son He eternally loved. The Word became flesh and lived among us. Jesus welcomed sinners, touched the rejected, confronted evil, bore our sin, and willingly gave His life to bring us to God. The Son does not soften an unwilling Father; He reveals the Father’s own love.
; ; ;The Spirit makes us God’s dwelling place
God’s presence is no longer marked by one earthly sanctuary. The Holy Spirit dwells in believers, joins us to Christ, forms God’s character in us, and teaches us to know God as Father.

The Bible ends where God’s purpose has always been leading: creation restored, death defeated, and God dwelling openly with His people. Salvation is more than escape from judgment. It is life with the God who made us and came near to bring us home.
;From the garden to the new creation, God reveals the same purpose: to dwell with His people, make them His own, and fill them with His life and love.
